Greetings! I wanted to make you aware of a great opportunity to have some fun, while also supporting a very worthy cause.
The Metro Area Chapter of Pheasants Forever with slightly more than 2,000 members is one of the largest PF chapters in Minnesota. However, in recent years, despite the efforts of dedicated board, the chapter had lost momentum. For example, last year's banquet was plagued by a blizzard and attracted only 126 attendees. With an infusion of new board members in March, this year the goal is to wake up the giant!
On Wednesday, August 11th, the Metro Area Chapter is hosting our annual Metro Area Pheasant Jamboree at the Minnesota Horse & Hunt Club. There will be sporting clays and trap shooting contests, representatives from various gun manufacturers and outfitters, exhibits from some of the finest in hunting equipment, apparel and accessories, and a dog training demonstration. All of this in addition to the traditional raffles, auctions, and more. Topped off by a mouth-watering whole roasted hog, baked beans, coleslaw, corn-on-the-cob and the hottest craft beer in town from Fulton Beer. Our goal is to attract at least 350 this year and to build on that number in years to come. We’ve been talking-up the event to anyone willing to listen, and the enthusiasm is very high. Who knows, maybe we’ll attract even 500 this year!
Between now and August 11, we will continue to identify various habitat acquisition/reclamation projects for the funds we raise at this event so you will know exactly where your money is going - which is "to the pheasants." In these uncertain times, we need people like you to step-up to ensure that the great tradition of pheasant hunting is preserved for all to enjoy, both today and for future generations to enjoy as well.
I wanted to make sure you knew about this event and all the great things we have planned. Contine to check the website as it will be updated regularly with more details about the Pheasant Jamboree. Also, register before July 15th and receive one (1) free entry into our 3 Gun Raffle.
Finally, we are still in need of volunteers for the Pheasant Jamboree and have several opportunities for you to get involved in helping. Hope to see you there.
Best regards,
Dave Scherf
