On Heels of Pheasant Fest, Wisconsin Build a Wildlife Area Campaign Nets First Land Acquisition - Jun. 19, 2009
With the help of Pheasants Forever and other partners, the Wisconsin Build a Wildlife Area campaign announces its first land acquisition, a 204-acre parcel of restored wetlands and adjacent upland grasslands in St. Croix County, Wisconsin. The area may be open for public hunting and outdoor recreational activities as early as this autumn.

Partnership puts Lottery Dollars to Work for Minnesota Wildlife Habitat - Jun. 17, 2009
Minnesota's Habitat Conservation Partnership announces the completion of 21,381 acres of habitat improvements during the third phase of funding. Funds for these projects were provided by the Minnesota Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund as recommended by the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR). Trust Fund dollars originate through the Minnesota State Lottery.

PF Hosting Montana State Habitat Meeting in Great Falls June 26 & 27 - Jun. 17, 2009
Pheasants Forever will hold its Montana State Habitat meeting in Great Falls, Montana on Friday, June 26 & Saturday, June 27, 2009. To be held at the Best Western - Heritage Inn, the meeting is for PF members, landowners, natural resource professionals and anyone interested in Montana wildlife habitat and upland birds.

PF's Leathers Graduates from National Conservation Leadership Institute - Jun. 16, 2009
Ron Leathers, director of public finance at Pheasants Forever, Inc. and Quail Forever and a resident of Blaine, Minnesota recently graduated from the National Conservation Leadership Institute, an intense eight-month experience to address one of the nation's most significant conservation challenges-preparing and retaining leaders. Leathers is one of 33 Fellows from across the country who was selected to participate in the prestigious Institute.

Green Lake Native Hired as PF's New Field Representative in Wisconsin - Jun. 16, 2009
Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever announce Kevin Wallenfang of Middleton, Wisconsin, as the organization's new regional field representative for the state of Wisconsin. Wallenfang's primary duties with PF will include starting and servicing chapters and members in the region to enhance the organization's wildlife habitat mission.

Lower Minnesota Valley Gets $1 Million Wildlife Habitat Boost - Jun. 16, 2009
The Migratory Bird Conservation Commission recently awarded a $1 million grant from the North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA) to Pheasants Forever and other partners in Minnesota. This NAWCA grant will fund Phase II of a multi-year initiative to restore and enhance breeding and migratory habitats for waterfowl and other wildlife in the Lower Minnesota River Valley.

Coalition Urges Congress to Support USDA Conservation Programs - Jun. 11, 2009
A coalition of hunting, fishing and conservation organizations urged the House and Senate Appropriations Committees to maintain mandatory spending levels for the U.S. Department of Agriculture conservation programs as authorized in the 2008 Farm Bill, the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership announced.

Brownell's Hosts PF Gun Tests - Jun. 11, 2009
Fifteen shooters from several Pheasants Forever chapters recently gathered at Brownells Big Springs Shooting Complex near Searsboro, Iowa to test 20 new shotguns. The event took shape when Joe Duggan, Pheasants Forever VP of Corporate Relations and Marketing told company president, Pete Brownell they needed a location for the annual test. Pete quickly volunteered use of the company facility.

12 Legislators Honored with Conservation Leadership Awards - Jun. 08, 2009
Pheasants Forever (PF) recently honored five U.S. Senators and seven U.S. Representatives with Conservation Leadership Awards for their efforts in furthering wildlife conservation initiatives on a national scale within the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008, commonly referred to as the Farm Bill.
